Projects
UC Riverside – Proposed Multidisciplinary Research Building, Riverside, California
Overview
For this proposed $150-million, 125,000-square-foot research facility, GeoDesign performed a geotechnical investigation and developed a customized foundation solution that included deep foundations and spread footings. Staff performed iterative analysis to justify the combined foundation system, and also led efforts to obtain geotechnical approval through UC’s geotechnical peer review consultant. This approach resulted in the omission of deep foundations from approximately 85 percent of the building footprint and a corresponding estimated cost savings of $1 million.
Our scope included:
- A geotechnical investigation and report
- Geotechnical construction observation and testing services
