JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
In your role as a Project Engineering Geologist, you’ll be working alongside GeoDesign’s Principal Engineering Geologist, supporting geological investigations, geohazard evaluations, and mine resource and permitting projects from start to completion. This will include assisting with proposals, developing project budgets, performing field-based and desktop analyses, and preparing reports or permitting documents for our clients.
GeoDesign’s Engineering Geology (EG) Group works hand-in-hand with our Geotechnical Engineering Group to characterize site conditions and provide design recommendations for both private and public projects. Our team also investigates and designs mitigations for geohazards such as landslides, rockslides, and liquefaction potential.
In addition, the EG Group works with a variety of miners in the construction aggregate and industrial minerals sectors. We evaluate mine resource potential, volume, and value; develop mine plans and mine expansion strategies; and assist miners in obtaining operating permits and maintaining permit compliance.
GeoDesign invests in the latest technology, such as our unmanned aerial systems (UAS, or “drone”) capabilities. We have fixed-wing and quadcopter UAVs capable of collecting precision imagery to create orthorectified aerial photos or map topography. We regularly use ArcGIS for analyzing topography, site history, and slope hazard potential. We also provide geophysical services such as vibration monitoring and ground-penetrating radar (GPR) surveys.
GeoDesign is looking for an exceptional individual with the ability to support our efforts in the Pacific Northwest, develop and maintain local client relationships, and provide an exceptional level of customized engineering geology consultation.
Ties to the local A/E/C industry and mining community are preferred. This is a wonderful opportunity for a geologist looking to further their career with a team of experts in the field.
